DOE and USDA Interagency Research Act
H.R. 1326
H.R. 1326
The DOE and USDA Interagency Research Act strengthens and formalizes the essential federal research partnerships that American innovators need to deliver clean firm power and increase U.S. agricultural competitiveness.
The DOE and USDA Interagency Research Act authorizes key research partnerships between the U.S Department of Energy (DOE) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) by directing these agencies to carry out collaborative research and development activities focused on the joint advancement of DOE and UDSA mission priorities.
American innovation in advanced energy technologies and novel agricultural solutions is essential to U.S. economic growth, national security, and global competitiveness. DOE and the USDA are the lead federal agencies for these efforts and share a long history of partnership in critical research areas like crop science, carbon storage, precision agriculture, and invasive species management, among others. As the global demand for both food and energy rises, there is an urgent need to amplify and preserve DOE and USDA’s research partnerships in law for the next generation.
The U.S. needs clean, firm power and must regain its leadership in agricultural innovation. The DOE and USDA Interagency Research Act would strengthen the essential federal research partnerships needed to accomplish both and get American researchers, farmers, and ranchers the tools they need to compete globally while maximizing the return on investment of taxpayer dollars.
