WHAT IT DOES

The Advanced Nuclear Fuel Availability Act addresses the critical need for a domestic supply of advanced nuclear fuels, such as high-assay low-enriched uranium (HA-LEU) and targets the reinforcement of proper transportation infrastructure.

WHY WE LIKE IT

Currently, the United States lacks the commercial capability to produce HA-LEU. To remain on the forefront of the nuclear energy race, the United States must stay ahead of countries like China and Russia who have great interest in cornering advanced reactor technologies and fuel markets. An interim supply of HA-LEU recycling from DOE stocks would enable a future for advanced nuclear reactors.
