1. ClearPath’s new CEO

This week, ClearPath announced that effective May 6, Jeremy Harrell will become the organization’s Chief Executive Officer. Outgoing CEO Rich Powell will remain on ClearPath’s Governance Board and Advisory Board.

2. What’s up at Oklo

Oklo, a nuclear energy technology and nuclear fuel recycling company, recently signed two deals to power up two different companies:

First up – Oklo and Diamondback Energy in the shale-oil region in Texas are set to collaborate on a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement. Oklo intends to license, build and operate its reactors to provide 50 MW of electric power to Diamondback.

Second up – Equinix signed a pre-agreement with Oklo to procure up to 500 MW of nuclear energy and a $25 million prepayment for the power supply. It is the first nuclear reactor deal signed by a colocation data center company.

What’s clear: Nuclear energy provides major economic benefits, and companies are taking notice. For example, the nuclear industry…

• Has an economic impact in GA, NC, SC, TN and VA, totaling $42.9 billion.
• Supports 152,598 jobs and $3.7 billion in annual state revenue.
• Creates 18 jobs outside the industry for every 10 inside of it.

3. How fertilizer is feeding America

Game-changing technologies like synthetic fertilizers helped revolutionize fuel, food, fiber and feed production. The U.S. leads in innovating agricultural productivity and efficiency while producing clean, reliable ammonia for fertilizer production and reducing agricultural sector emissions.

Domestic synthetic fertilizer is directly linked to:

• U.S. economic growth and prosperity;
• Reduced reliance on other countries’ resources, and;
• American leadership in the agricultural space

What’s clear: Food security is national security. The U.S. food system relies heavily on fertilizer production from adversaries like Russia and China, which could limit fertilizer supply to the U.S. and reduce America’s ability to provide affordable food and fuel domestically and globally.

4. New(clear) Caucus

Senators Jim Risch (R-ID) and Mark Warner (D-VA) announced their latest energy project – The Senate Advanced Nuclear Caucus. The Caucus aims to amplify nuclear energy’s role in the U.S. and explore emerging advanced nuclear reactors.

What’s clear: Bipartisan momentum for nuclear energy technology continues to grow, as shown by the passage of The Atomic Energy Advancement Act in the House and The ADVANCE Act in the Senate.
