Press Release - 2026 Farm Bill Passes U.S. House of Representatives

Washington, DC – Thursday, April 30, 2026 – ClearPath Action released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026 by a bipartisan vote of 224-220, legislation that puts American farmers first and strengthens America's agricultural innovation.

"American farmers can lead the world in implementing agricultural innovations, improving soil health and stewarding America’s natural resources." said ClearPath Action CEO Jeremy Harrell. "This legislation is a step in the right direction to foster American agricultural R&D and compete against China’s investments."

American farmers are ready to lead again, and this bill gives them the runway to do it. The Farm, Food, and National Security Act restores funding for commercially relevant research, improves conservation programs that actually pencil out for producers and helps bring new technologies out of the lab and into the field.

Specifically, the bill:

  • Restores agricultural R&D funding to keep American farmers on the cutting edge and reduce dependence on foreign competitors;
  • Modernizes conservation programs so they improve soil health and lower nitrous oxide emissions without creating new burdens for producers; and
  • Moves innovations like precision farming tools and next-generation fertilizers from demonstration projects into widespread use.

“American farmers can out-compete anyone in the world with the right tools. This bill is a meaningful step towards cementing America's dominance in agricultural innovation,” added Harrell.
